Mice.

So last week our neighbor (back studio apt on our house) knocked on the door and said:

"Just to let you guys know I just saw a mouse run across the floor and go under the stove."

AKA.... there could be a live mouse running in to your house at some point. Well I am NOT ok with this. I am very scared of mice, rats, rodents, etc. So here's what that fear and a vivid imagination produces:

1) Me reaching my hand in to the ceral box this morning and imagining feeling a little furry thing with a tail.

2) Me washing the dishes and always wearing shoes in the kitchen for fear of a little furry thing running across my foot.

3) Me looking in the toilet and seeing a mouse crawling out... THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED AT MY BEACH HOUSE ONCE.

It's not healthy.... I can't stop coming up with ways the mouse and I will meet. Even googling the images of mice right now just amplified this fear and seriously grossed me out.

New Hair Colour

It is finally Spring.....in other parts of the country! It's supposed to be snowing later here today so I don't know how springy that is going to make me feel, but oh well!

Normally when Spring or Fall comes I get the urge to dye my hair and it is right on track again with me searching for new hair colours..... and yes i think the word colour is much more fun than color.

So I'm thinking light reddish brown, I normally go dark reddish brown in the fall, but for spring I want to keep it light. BUT I can't find a photo anywhere that I like. And I have no idea how I would explain this to my hair stylist.

I think (??) I want a combo of these:

I just want something lighter and prettier and a bit redder.... what do you think?

Tibi Ikat Dress

This dress keeps popping up everywhere I go!! On blogs, on TV shows, in magazines, places I can't even remember! I love it, but I'm a little hesitant about the waist on it. Maybe not so flattering? I have a dress similar and I keep wanting to put a belt there.

I don't know.... I feel like it's the universe telling me something here.... like it needs to be in my closet...

One word: Lackluster

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was thoroughly disappointed in the Oscar hosts last night. I mean they built it up so much and then they did nothing great, nothing super funny, no musical number, not even many jokes. I mean it's the Oscars!!! The opening number is supposed to be HUGE and great, but they obviously did not get the memo this year.

James Franco just said his words on the prompter and then stared off in to space with a weird little smirk.

Anne Hathaway tried so hard, but it was too hard, AND did anyone else notice that she cheered for every presenter she introduced with a loud WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, or YEAAHHHHHHHHHH.... at the Oscars??

Billy Crystal's 5 minutes was better than anything they said all night!

I think this line pretty much sums it up:
"The famed movie critic Roger Ebert tweeted "The worst Oscarcast I've seen, and I go back awhile. Some great winners, a nice distribution of awards, but the show? Dead. In. The. Water."

Anyway, enough of the rant.

At least the fashion was pretty good for the most part. Some of my favs:

1. I love cheese. It is probably my most favorite food in the whole world. (A close second is bacon, making a bacon grilled cheese sandwich a close third). More than just regular cheese I have a love for shredded cheese. Specifically the brand Cracker Barrel extra sharp cheddar cheese - no tie to the restaurant thank god. Shred it and use it on anything it is heaven. I once drunkenly admitted that if I could have any job in the world and make money I would be a cheese shredder. Yes, I know, but it's a simple pleasure in life for me.

2. I love labs. Black, yellow, brown. I love them all and I want one now and have wanted one for about 4 years now, but I know I am not in a place in life to get one right now. It doesn't stop me from freaking out every time I see one though.

3. I eat an apple pretty much every weekday. I love apples and I generally eat one everyday with lunch.

4. I have recently (in the past year) developed a bad shopping problem. If I see the words sale or even better 40% off of sale items I will go nuts and buy wayyyyy to much. I just can't pass a sale now. I don't know why. The main culprits of this epidemic are:

5. I love to read. It is probably one of my most favorite things. I do read "serious" books, but most of the time I read girly books that I pick up from the library based on their covers and silly girl titles. It is my escape from reality. However, right now I am reading Wicked and I can't put it down. It's like a new version of Harry Potter!

6. On that note... I love Harry Potter. ALOT. I've read all the books multiple times and seen all of the movies multiple times. The movies do not hold candle to the books. I once read 4 of them in a row over Christmas break and then tried to see if I had magical powers one night and thought my water might be poisoned one day because it tasted weird.

7. As obvious from #6... I have a very vivid imagination and I always have. As a child I gave everything in my room personalities and pretended they were real things (just like Beauty and the Beast). I even gave numbers personalities and used that to learn how to add. It's also one of the reasons I love to read so much today.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Tonight Thomas and I will mostly be celebrating our one year anniversary. We're off to Beajoe's: Colorado style pizza. Insanely good pizza, exactly what we did last year and not at all valentiney cheesy :)

b) Go belly first in to the crowd which obviously had to lead to some boob grabbing and other lady parts grabbing as well.... BAD IDEA

Weekend Recap

This weekend was wonderful! 60 degrees and sunny... a huge improvement compared to the 2 degrees and snowy/icy that is it today and will be tomorrow. Low of -20 with the wind chill? I mean come on that should not be possible.

Friday I went to see "The King's Speech"

By far one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I just can't tell you how great it was! Go see it! Colin Firth is amazing and deserves all the awards he is getting.

The rest of the weekend was productive for me and I decided to "craft out" as Emily would say. For a while I've had jewelry clutter problems and I don't even own that much jewelry.

Solution: A trip to Hobby Lobby (new love for that store) for.... a metal wall thing of the Eiffel Tower.

Add some wooden dowels and a little black spray paint and voila...

Looks like a chinese building to me now. But oh well it works!
Also did a little black spray paint action on this hook for necklaces.

Sunday was spring cleaning... for Thomas' room. He is a hoarder and MESSY and I love him despite it all, but I was going insane in his room so I tore it apart and forced him to part with clothes he never wears and filled up an entire kitchen size trash bag of trash in his room.

Weirdest find goes to.....

These are Brazilian man sandals that his brother brought him from a trip to South America. He has never worn them, but they were a gift so therefore we need to hold on to them for 10 years.... Goodwill here they come :)

And then we went to the park and Thomas finally flew his remote control helicopter for me. This thing could chop off my arm it goes so fast. He was like a 5 year old on Christmas day - so happy!
